How the calculator stacks your cartons
It tries both ways of turning the carton on the pallet, plus patterns that turn the cartons in the leftover strip, and keeps whichever fits the most per layer. Cartons never hang over the edge.
Layers stack until the next one would pass your height limit, counting the 6-inch pallet, or until the load would pass your weight limit. Cartons stay upright, so the height you enter is the height that stacks.

How many boxes fit on a pallet?
It depends on the box size and how high you stack. A 12 × 10 × 8 inch carton fits 16 per layer on a 48 × 40 pallet; stacked to 55 inches including the pallet, that is 6 layers, or 96 cartons.
What is the standard pallet size in the United States?
The most common U.S. pallet is 48 × 40 inches, often called a GMA pallet. 42 × 42 and 48 × 48 inch pallets are also used for some products.
How tall can a pallet be?
Height limits depend on the warehouse racking and the carrier. Fulfillment Hub USA prices standard pallets up to 55 inches tall and large pallets from 55 to 80 inches tall.
