Start with inventory that can be identified
A useful pick-and-pack plan starts before the first order. Build a product file with a distinct SKU for each sellable variation, the identification used on the unit, dimensions and weight. Flag items that look alike, products sold both individually and in sets, and anything that needs a handling review. Share representative photographs when text alone could leave the packing team with two plausible choices.
Prepare the inbound shipment against that file. Agree the receiving address, appointment requirements, carton or pallet labels and expected quantities before dispatch. Decide who answers a discrepancy and what evidence is needed to release stock. Inventory that has not been received or is held for review should not be treated as available simply because a purchase order or carrier notice says it is on the way.
